Julie Chenette founded Chenette, Litigation Boutique Inc. in 2006 after nearly 20 years of practice as a lawyer and then a partner with the Litigation, Class Action and Professional Liability Group at McCarthy Tétrault in Montreal.
Ms. Chenette regularly pleads before civil courts, administrative tribunals, professional court and disciplinary councils of professional orders in long-duration cases involving multiple parties and experts. Ms. Chenette’s practice also includes matters of defamation and infringement upon freedom of expression.
In addition to litigation, Ms. Chenette’s practice includes assisting professionals at every stage of the disciplinary investigation process or other processes of their professional order. She also advises business executives who requires personal legal opinions independent of those of the company, such as in cases of dismissal.
She has given many lectures on professional liability and deontology, and taught procedure and civil liability at the École du Barreau du Québec.
Ms. Chenette received her Bachelor of Law degree from the Université de Montréal in 1986. She was called to the Quebec Bar in 1987.
